Chiropractic and Pregnancy

Sports are physically demanding, and they can take a toll on the body. Pregnancy is also physically demanding and takes its toll on the body!  Your body can handle it, but it isn't always pleasant. During the course of pregnancy, the body is undergoing many structural and functional changes. Chiropractic can help to alleviate pains and discomforts that come with every pregnancy. Select Chiropractic and Wellness works with our pregnant patients to maintain normal physiology and function by reducing interference in the nervous system, maintaining structural balance of the pelvis, and removing tension in the muscles and ligaments around the pelvis.

Dr. Emily is a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA). She is certified in the Webster Technique by the ICPA. The Webster Technique was developed over 30 years ago to address sacral subluxation or misalignment. The technique involves a specific sacral analysis, chiropractic adjustment, and related soft tissue release. It can be used throughout pregnancy. It can even be used on non-pregnant patients!

Dr. Emily can use RockTape kinesiology tape on pregnant patients, too! RockTape is different than athletic tape. Athletic tape is white tape that is very firm and doesn't stretch. RockTape is a therapeutic tape that is cotton based, stretchy, and can stay in place for a few days. The idea is that it can move with you while still providing support. There are taping options to help with pains and stresses on the pregnant body like back pain, rib pain, sciatic nerve pain, swollen feet, and MORE!

Check out the RockTape Pintrerest page for photos of how tape can be applied.
